Context and Rationale:
Founded on October 25, 2008, on the initiative of youth (predominantly women) from Kivu, La Floraison is a Congolese non-profit organization working for the protection and promotion of the rights of women, children, and other vulnerable groups affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters, and health crises.

Mission: In the African Great Lakes region, La Floraison Asbl strengthens the resilience and inclusion of communities facing humanitarian crises and climate change, prioritizing the empowerment of marginalized young women and child protection.
Vision: Just, peaceful, and resilient communities where every person lives in dignity and fully exercises their rights.

Governance and Organizational Management
La Floraison has a clear and participatory governance system that complies with the national legal framework and the principles of good governance applicable to humanitarian organizations.
The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body. It sets the strategic direction, adopts internal policies, approves plans and budgets, and elects the members of the Board of Directors.
The Oversight Committee ensures the proper implementation of decisions made by the General Assembly and the Board of Directors, monitors financial and regulatory compliance, and promotes transparency and accountability across the organization’s activities.
The Board of Directors (BoD) provides strategic leadership and oversight of the organization.

The Chairperson of the Board of Directors legally represents La Floraison in all civil matters and ensures the implementation of decisions taken by the General Assembly.
The Executive Management is the operational body of La Floraison. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization, activity monitoring, resource mobilization, and staff supervision.
Legal status and recognition
La Floraison is legally recognized in accordance with Law No. 004/2001 of 20 July 2001 on Non-Profit Organizations (ASBL) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
